I used to live in Montana, and that would happen. It’s caused by repetitive melting and freezing. The snow melts a little, and water gets under the snow, and the whole mass slides down.
As it edges over the room, it hangs straight down towards the ground. It freezes during the night.
The next day, what froze during the previous night is pushed further under the roof.
Over a number of days, you get what you see in that picture.
Pic #2 is all ice…
You can see that it’s ice bacause og the way it forms…
If it was water it would just pore of the roof, and not down in to the gutter…
And for you C… the sun can shine anyday, summer as winter
I don’t know why, and I partly blame it on the very low level of brightness I have on right now…but I thought that one guy was covered in bees for a second.

What is that 2nd one down?
I cant figure it out. Looks like water running off a corrogtated roof? But I cant figure out why its curling around.

It looks like ice.

It is ice. As it slowly melts, and starts to slide down the roof, it sometimes curls like that. The temperature has to be just right…

Er… I thought it was water. Since the collection is about taking high speed photography.
I think it’s water being poured off the roof and it swirls round as it hit the guttering, causing the tunnel effect…
Cause of the high speed shutter, it just looks frozen… Plus it’s sunny in the photo…
Still a very cool photo though!
